Viking girls win in double overtime; boys fall to Augusta

The Viking boys and girls teams showed leaps and bounds of improvement over Augusta Friday night after falling to them by a large margin earlier in the season.

Women Builders fall at Friends Thursday

The Southwestern College women’s basketball team saw its longest winning streak of the season come to an end in enemy territory Thursday evening. The Builders fell to the Falcons of Friends University, 79-62, at the Garvey P.E. Center in Wichita.

Moundbuilder men fly past Friends

The 19th-ranked Southwestern College men’s basketball team notched its 23rd win of the 2015-16 season with a blowout victory over its arch rival Thursday evening. The Moundbuilders defeated the Falcons of Friends University, 69-53, in the Garvey P.E. Center in Wichita.

Douglass girls honor injured teammate

It’s been a surprise months in the making. Ever since Douglass senior Cashlyn Munroe sustained a season-ending injury in December, it hasn’t set right with the team to be starting without one of their friends —  and someone who had contributed so much to their program. That thinking put coach Jason Wilson into action, and he arranged a surprise for the senior.

Builder women sweep KCAC awards

The Southwestern College women’s basketball team swept the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards after notching wins over Ottawa and Kansas Wesleyan last week. Sophomore Jordyn Miller was named the KCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while senior Jana Reichenberger earned KCAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Clark earns defensive player of the week award

Southwestern College senior Cameron Clark has been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Southwestern’s wins over Ottawa and Kansas Wesleyan last week. The weekly awards were announced Tuesday by conference officials.
