MOUNDRIDGE — Ethel Helmer, 85, of Moundridge, died Aug. 6 2009, at the Memorial Home, Moundridge.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Burial will follow at noon in the Pleasant Center Cemetery near Burns. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Moundridge Funeral Home, 115 E. Cole, Moundridge, KS 67107.
Memorials are to the Eden Mennonite Church, Burns United Methodist Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Helmer was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Moundridge to C.H. and Lydia (Flickner) Kaufman. She graduated from Bethel College in 1945, then taught at Bunker Hill.
She married Ed Helmer in 1947. A farming, homemaking life followed at Burns.
Mr. Helmer preceded her in death. She moved to Pine Village Memorial Home in Moundridge in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Burt Helmer, Andover, and Kevin Helmer, El Dorado; two daughters, Kris Hayes-York, Winfield, and Julie Morrison, Newton; four brothers, Howard Kaufman, Virg Kaufman and Del Kaufman, all of Moundridge, and Lee Kaufman, Winfield; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
